hat is the sum of your life? Have you ever thought about it? The sum means, in the end what we take with us we leave this world. We cannot take anything with us but we have to abandon all we had in our life, both good and bad things. So anyway we leave both good and bad things which we achieved, can’t we make only good things which benefited others or made others happy. Like the Egyptians believed – after death we will be asked two questions before we are allowed into heaven. Those questions are – Whether we lived a happy life on earth? Second question, whether our living made others happy? These two questions are very important and we should think about it before we die.

In Indian mythology also it is said, we will not take anything with us after we die. So we should not be blind with material wealth we see in this world. The ultimate cause of every evil starts with desire for more, desire which leads to greed. We should always be aware and should know the limit of material wealth.

One thing most of the humans forget in their life is to live in the present. Be aware of what we are who we are and what we have achieved. Do not bother about what others have in their life. Do not be jealous.

In the end people will remember only your deeds. If it is good you will be remembered in that way else the opposite.

Life Is A Race

Life is a race. From childhood itself we run for something, often which is unknown to us. We run just because others run as we would fail in this race if we do not run. Most often this race depends upon the situation, the result is unknown to us, unpredictable. We often forget the ethics which should be followed in the race. No one cares about the fellow racers, ultimate goal is to win.

Most of the time we are guided into the type of race, often with a dislike to run. This pressure is from the social group around us, like family, friends, our well wishers. This race of life continues till our death. We think to stop the race when the finishing point comes, but the net race will be started before we finish. This chain or cycle continues. The thing lost in between the race is peace of mind. The theory made by Charles Darwin, Survival of the Fittest, is always true in the current century too, even after we evolved a lot.

Influential Power

It's amazing how much influence and power you have, or can be given. Some of this power, however, may be positive, or more harmful than you realize.

I was reminded of influential power just the other day when I jokingly remarked to a colleague that all they seemed to do throughout the day was eat. The response from my colleague, "You are going to give me a complex.", reawakened my thinking that some of us can negatively influence people without even being aware that we are doing so.

As another example, take a simple facial expression, a smile, and a one-word greeting, 'hello'. It is astounding how much impact this simple greeting can have on a work colleague or friend, or to a total stranger when you pass them on the street. A simple smile and an hello can do wonders for someone's spirit who may be a little down at the moment, feeling a bit unappreciated, or feeling all alone with their own issues or concerns.

Three points need to be made here. First, is that you cannot influence others unless they give you the power to do so because we all have a choice. Second, we can choose to be influenced or affected by others or their actions, or we can choose not to. Just like you can lead a horse to water, you cannot make it drink unless it wants to. And, third, some of what we may consider to be our most innocent actions or lack of actions can help or hinder.

Be aware of what you say and how you act. You may have been given more influential power than you realize.

On his return special air force plane. He along with his mother insisted all MPs to travel in economy class. they might have traveled in it, may be for a few days. After which they will use private choppers and air force planes.

Recently in the Thekkady mishap in Kerala, the Kerala government requested air force plane for the transport of dead bodies o other states, but at that time our defense minister, from Kerala itself said there are certain formalities to get the plane and it is difficult. But for Rahul Gandhi, a 'money saver' these policies can be changed.

Mahatma Gandhi traveled all over India, to know he poor, that to on a lower class train. But this VIP travel all over India with Z catagory security, with the money of common man. For what purpose. Who got the benefit of all these activities, Congress??

Beyond The Dream

Have you ever had a dream? I'm not talking about a dream that we all experience while we sleep. I'm talking about a dream that shows a new career or pursuit.

Most people have these kinds of dreams and some people have the same one over and over again sometimes consuming their every waking moment. Is there anything wrong with this kind of dream?

Some people might suggest that to have a recurring dream that depicts a new reality is simply daydreaming where this dream only acts as a way to fill the void from a less than satisfying job and provides a necessary escape from their current reality making it somewhat bearable. The interesting and more significant point though, is that this dream may be what should be turned into a day-to-day reality that provides a more pleasing and fulfilling life.

So, why not invest the energy wasted on dreaming by developing a plan that will move you closer and closer to what you really desire? Some reasons for not starting is just that; you never start; you never take any steps whatsoever in taking any steps or actions. If you find yourself in this situation, one positive action is to talk with someone you know who has changed their career, someone who has had to make sustained effort to change despite obstacles or circumstances. Why?

Simple. The person who has taken action to move beyond an unsatisfying career has learned what it takes; has developed a set of procedures; has formulated an action plan; and one who has learned to overcome obstacles. Wouldn't it be a lot easier to ask them for guidance or suggestions than going it alone, or, worse still, staying mired in current circumstances where the only positive is your dream?

Thousands Flee Pakistan

As jets and helicopters pounded targets in the valley, the UN said it was threatening to become one of the world's biggest displacement crises. Troops have killed more than 140 militants in the past 24 hours in a "full-scale" offensive, the army said. It accused the Taleban of trying to stop civilians leaving the area.

Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has vowed to "eliminate militants and terrorists" from Swat, a bastion of Taleban rule. Despite now abandoned attempts to secure a peace deal in and around Swat, the area - close to the border with Afghanistan - has long been riven by tensions. Some 550,000 people had already been displaced before the current crisis, said UNHCR spokesman Ron Redmond. Those displaced over recent days have been forced to flee with very little preparation, aid workers say, with families often separated, and doctors in displaced camps report widespread psychological trauma. Many are fleeing Mingora, the main town in Swat Valley, which was home to several hundred thousand people before the latest fighting began. Locals say that most of the current fighting is centred on the Kabal and Charbagh areas of Swat, as well as Mingora itself, and fighting is reported in Maidan, Lower Dir. Militant strongholds were hit from the air on Friday as troops conducted operations on the ground.

Nato Is To Start A Series of Military Exercises in Georgia

Nato is to start a series of military exercises in Georgia, a day after the government thwarted an attempt by its own soldiers to stage a mutiny. Soldiers from 18 countries are taking part in the drills at a Georgian army base close to the capital, Tbilisi. But Russia has said the exercises amount to a provocation. They come just nine months after Russia's short war with Georgia and are taking place close to areas where Russian troops are stationed. More than 1,000 soldiers will take part in exercises over a period of more than three weeks.

For Georgia, which has been promised eventual Nato membership, the exercises are a sign that, despite doubts over its candidate status after last year's war with Russia, it has not been forgotten. Russia views the exercises as a provocation and has turned down an invitation to send observers. In recent days its security forces have officially begun patrolling the border between South Ossetia, the epicentre of last summer's conflict, and Georgia. The Georgian government has repeatedly said Russia's actions are to blame for raising tension in the region.

It also accuses Moscow of backing the mutiny at an army base on Tuesday and supporting an alleged coup plot. Russia has denied the allegations. The Georgian government is hopeful that the Nato exercises will give it a chance to prove to its Western allies that it can host an important international event without further disturbances.

The paper's representative claims to have approached Quershi as a representative of a Dubai family looking to adopt Ali. The week long standoff between Somali pirates and the U.S. flagged ship ended on Sunday when the U.S. Navy killed the pirates holding a U.S. captive. After the pirates were shot, the captain was rescued unharmed.

The conflict began when pirates boarded the Maersk Alabama, a Danish-operated vessel with a U.S. crew, as it attempted to deliver aid to African refugees. Pirates apparently sought to extort a ransom for the return of the crew and cargo, but the crew members overpowered at least one of the four pirates, causing the other attackers to flee with the captain of the ship as a hostage.

The 20 unarmed crew members then negotiated an exchange of the pirate for the captain, who was taken off the ship with the pirates in one of the vessel's life boats, a self-contained enclosed vehicle. But after the crew released the pirate, the pirates refused to release the captain.

Captain Richard Phillips was held hostage by the pirates for days, even attempting to escape once, before the U.S. Navy was able to shoot the pirates on Sunday. Three of the pirates reportedly stood in visible sight of Navy sharpshooters while the fourth pirate was on board the USS Bainbridge attempting to negotiate a settlement to the standoff.

The incident came in a week in which six ships were hijacked by heavily armed pirates in the area, but it was the first American ship to be hijacked since the Barbary Wars, two conflicts between the U.S. and the Barbary States in North Africa in the early 19th century.

President Barack Obama reportedly gave the order allowing U.S. sharpshooters to take out the pirates if the captain's life was in danger.

I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. This is a story of one 10-year-old boy who decided to study judo despite the fact that he had lost his left arm in a devastating car accident.

The boy began lessons with an old Japanese judo master. The boy was doing well, so he couldn't understand why, after three months of training, the master had taught him only one move.

"Sensei," the boy finally said, "Shouldn't I be learning more moves?"

"This is the only move you know, but this is the only move you'll ever need to know," the Sensei replied. Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher, the boy kept training.

Several months later, the Sensei took the boy to his first tournament. Surprising himself, the boy easily won his first two matches. The third match proved to be more difficult, but after some time, his opponent became impatient and charged; the boy deftly used his one move to win the match. Still amazed by his success, the boy was now in the finals.

This time, his opponent was bigger, stronger, and more experienced. For a while, the boy appeared to be overmatched. Concerned that the boy might get hurt, the referee called a time-out. He was about to stop the match when the Sensei intervened. "No," the Sensei insisted, "Let him continue."

Soon after the match resumed, his opponent made a critical mistake: he dropped his guard. Instantly, the boy used his move to pin him. The boy had won the match and the tournament. He was the champion.

On the way home, the boy and Sensei reviewed every move in each and every match. Then the boy summoned the courage to ask what was really on his mind. "Sensei, how did I win the tournament with only one move?"

"You won for two reasons," the Sensei answered. "First, you've almost mastered one of the most difficult throws in all of judo. And second, the only known defence for that move is for your opponent to grab your left arm."

The boy's greatest weakness had become his greatest strength.

The moral of the story – We sometimes allow our weaknesses to be our downfall rather than using them to our advantage. We tell ourselves we cannot do something because we do not feel it is our strength. But, if we didn't dwell on our weaknesses, we may find that we could succeed. The story reminds me of the quote by Thomas Edison, "Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." We tend to give up rather than persevere. We all need to be reminded that sometimes what we perceive as our weakness could actually turn out to be our strength.

Taleban's stranglehold brings fear to Swat

Climate of fear

Amid reports that the government plans to renew talks with the militants, there has been a sudden escalation in the conflict. First, it was the appearance of beheaded bodies in various public places in Mingora, terrorising the local population. According to reports, more than 30 bodies were found in the town during a two-week period in December and January. Although the edict came at a time when government schools had closed for the winter holidays, some privately-owned schools still holding classes closed down after that. At least 18 people are reported dead in a suspected US drone attack near the Afghan border in north-west Pakistan. Two missiles fired by the drone struck the home of a local tribesman in the Kurram tribal region, officials say.The building was being used as a Taleban recruitment office. The US has launched many similar attacks in recent months, mostly targeting Taleban and al-Qaeda militants in Pakistan's tribal regions. Local administration officials told that the home was being used by the organisation of Taleban leader Baitullah Mehsud.

The Pakistani government has not yet commented on the incident.The attack took place in the Sarpul area of Kurram, about 15km (nine miles) from the border with Afghanistan's Khost province. Serious differences. "Smoke can be seen over the area where the missiles struck," a security official told Reuters news agency. The official said the "Afghan Taleban were holding an important meeting there when the missiles were fired". The strike is the first to target the Taleban in the Kurram tribal region. The area has been the scene of an ongoing sectarian war between Sunni Taleban militants and local Shia militias.The strike is also the second to target Baitullah Mehsud's organisation in as many days.On Saturday, two missiles destroyed a house near the Afghan border reportedly being used as a meeting place by his men. At least 28 militants, including foreign fighters, were killed in that attack. Kurram, which is less than 100km from the Afghan capital, Kabul, served as the most important launching pad for the Afghan mujahideen during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan in the 1980s.

Earlier everyone gave importance to character ethics. But after the recent trend and globalization the focus is shifted to personality ethics. What is the difference between these two? The main difference, is in personality ethics we give more importance to appearance and outward behavior. Not concerned about the inner mind. But in the case of character ethics we are trained to behave from our inner mind. But people who are in favor of character ethics says, we may show we are perfect and we can do everything, but our inner mind knows we are empty and not capable to do. So they say we should first learn to change our habit and way of approach. We should be hundred percent confident that we know what we are going to do. In personality ethics we are asked to be hundred percent confident, but we may not prepare to reach the goal. But sometimes the personality ethics may give wonders to some people.

In personality ethics we are taught to smile even if it is not there, i.e. we are forced to make a fake smile to please others, a plastic smile. But in character ethics we are taught to smile from our inner heart.

No one is sure which one to follow. One thing we have to be sure, follow anyone, will get confused if we mix them up. Can choose anyone of it.

Today Pakistan government have washed their hands saying JuD leader is not in their custody. They say even they are in need of him. Earlier they said he was under house arrest. The person who was in house arrest disappears. He was released in 1999 from India after the Air India plane hijack. Day by day they change the statements. The nationalist ethnic and revolutionary groups use it for their ends. It is a derogatory term to condemn the acts of violence.

Terrorism is a political method that uses threat and violence against civilians to terrorize a target group for yielding to certain political demands. It is used against governments as well as people to achieve the vested interests, which are political, religious or ideological.

Characteristics of terrorism
Violence, Psychological influence, horror, Political Objectives, Premeditated targeting of general public and Unlawfulness are the hideous characteristics of terrorism. Now a day Mumbai has become the prime target of terrorists. This may be because it is considered to be the financial capital of India. It has to be thought long before, that is the removal of CRT from the Desktop. First it may be felt like an impossible mission. But after realizing the fact that CRT requires four times more energy than an LCD monitor.

Most of the energy spent on the CRT is wasted as heat. So in one way we are utilizing the energy for the purpose of heating. This will be adding the heat to the environment.

All the studies which have been conducted on global warming has suggested better utilization of energy like, reducing the usage of hot water, which in turn add heat to the environment. But a few have mentioned about the need of changing of the display system which is currently in use.

Majority are switching over to laptops which will be using much lesser energy but most of the offices are still using desktops as it is not possible for them to use laptops. But they can use LCD monitors instead of using CRT. The price range between the CRT and LCD are lessening day by day. Not only that in long run we can save a lot in the energy bill. Like the campaign of Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL), LCD monitors should be encouraged.

Green Organizations Utilized for Political Gain

Recently there was protest against the Microsoft (MS) product Vista. The anti-product campaign was done by one of the most reputed, well known and active ‘green’ organization.

There was demonstration pointing the e-waste produced, after the need to upgrade the computers to run the new operating system (OS). The people who gained from this are open source software developers, who have a left liberal view. If the ‘green‘ organization was really interested in e-waste management they would have made awareness among the customers. Or else they would have made some provision for proper e-waste management system, like collecting the waste and bringing them to the recycling centers. The mentioned ‘green’ organization has presence in almost all the nations and they have the volunteers capable to do and even lot of funds for it.

It should be like what our great Mahatma Gandhi said- “you should be the change that you wish to see in this world”
